[140406] kusudama origami:
[1] individual components folded during 1 long MRT ride + 1 long wait in e queue at Clementi bus interchange + 2 long long SBS14 bus rides [2] blue & yellow 'precursors' fitted together [3] 24 units [4] threaded together in 3 rings of 8 [5] final assembly using DMC 6-strand embroidery floss #334 [6] bola
made from 2 & 3 different designs (fans, butterflies, balls, ribbons, fallen cherry blossoms in a stream, rickshaws, flowers, etc) of yellow & blue paper respectively, because there weren't enough sheets of e same design....lucky e shades are quite close =)
e cat sucks big time at art - any sort that involves drawing, sketching, painting, still-life etc. what are cameras for? =P it drew rectangles for still-life when its sec 1 art teacher (e 'witch' aka Christine or Christina, can't recall) placed a brick on e table during art class. e best pieces it produced were drawings of transverse/longitudinal sections of bananas, tomatoes, cucumbers, fish, peanuts, sheep eyeballs, prawns, grasshopper legs, & cockroaches (& their mandibles) for upper sec bio practicals.
but e cat loves 'crafty' stuff, anything intricate that requires dexterity & fine control of furry paws e.g. untangling strings & ribbons for clumsy friends, friendship bands (no better name?), Chinese knots using forceps & pins, dissecting/excising neural tubes & what will eventually become retinas from what will eventually become eyeballs out of 1.2mm-long Xenopus embryos using a pair of Hamilton syringe point style 2 needles (any gauge) under a stereo-microscope, sewing/stitching, unpicking & rescuing stuff for sewing-handicapped classmates during Home Econs, papercutting using cuticle scissors & needles, etc. & kusudama origami =) one day it shall stop procrastinating & finally get started on all e origami architecture stuff it photostated 10+ years ago =P
