happy to meet up with secondary school friends & to be able to sit down & talk just as we did 10+ years ago....until we realised that it was past closing time & we were e only customers left, & that e restaurant (more like an air con kopitiam) staff were all glued to e TV while waiting for us to be done =)
408'95 was such a nice & 'normal' class because it had hardly any girls from uber-rich families? such a reason has never occurred to e cat before, & e mention of it tonight has left e cat a little somewhat stunned....
pity that e cat has to miss this November's 10th year reunion of e class of '95 at e Anderson Road campus, though for a happy reason ;)
fangus is one of e most stable (as in emotionally stable, rational, level-headed, calm & collected) friends that e cat has. think it's her 'don't take life too seriously' policy. people like her are like rocks in e cat's life, great to have around & steady sia =)
how come it didn't ever occur to e cat that peeling off e outermost layer of skin from tau sar pau before eating it was a manifestation of OCD, even though it had noticed this rather peculiar behaviour & other signs in at least 2 people?
& that e extreme behaviour & mood swings of e fella who woke e entire hall while screaming off a nasty hangover was probably due to his bipolar disorder? e cat can still recall e incident on e bus when he pulled e waistband of his pants outwards & pointing to his crotch, declared to e very shocked hockey guys captain that his 'equipment is all there'.
e human mind is so profound. & so beautiful. as e cat types this it is thinking of e beautiful minds that it has encountered (one name that comes immediately to mind is Rhan - a mind that is even more beautiful for its unselfishness in sharing with others its magic), & e super-multi-talented friends mentioned tonight. & each time e cat views growth cones under e microscope, it never fails to be amazed by how gazillions of these structures can trace out gazillions of correct trajectories to make gazillions of precise connections in forming a brain capable of e magical process of thought.
as was asked tonight, can today's obsessed-with-pigeonholing society accept a 'renaissance man', like da vinci e engineer-artist-inventor-architect-etc? what would he do if he had to go university in Singapore? e cat is thinking of people like [1] e fellow Iplet-gymnast-microbiologist-diver-violinist-track & field athlete, [2] e concert pianist-doctor-physics olympiad-squash player-take F Maths (in addition to trip sci combi) for fun classmate, & [3] probably e longest-staying student resident of e cat's former hostel. & SPS people like rhan too.
e cat is extremely grateful to have had e chance to encounter & learn from them =)
