[080106] rainrainrainrainrainrainrainrainrainrainrain around e clock. as a kid I used to imagine how it'd be like when sea levels rose so high that people had to paddle from block to block in my estate. now I imagine how it'd be like when sea levels rise so high that people will have to paddle from block to block & to work, cars will be found in museums, COEs will be for jetskis & powerboats, & terrace/semi-D/bungalows would have to be built on stilts. floating markets would no longer be unique to Bangkok/Samut Songkhram.

drying soaked mail. Starhub uses lousy quality ink (deskjet printer quality?), lousier than e kind that e baby used to write her written-appeal-for-ang-pao-disguised-as-CNY-card, which didn't smudge at all ;)

[forgotten] was told that someone's breast cancer might be back, ~4.5 years after surgery + radiotherapy. & she told me before she told her husband. & told me not to tell him. in fact I'm not sure if she's even telling him. how many such women have I heard of who are afraid that their husbands will leave them (for other women) if their breasts 'become imperfect' because they have to be operated on/removed? cancer (& other critical illnesses) is a powerful magnifying glass for faultlines in relationships.

am I supposed to be affected by how I have accepted death as an integral part of life? affected by how others are affected by how I have accepted death as an integral part of life? sometimes it is as if I am doing/thinking something illegal - but like who can say e laws of nature are illegal? ;)

[210106] translation of 重要 = final?

e cat eats & drinks on buses. & will continue to do so as long as SBS continues to take anything between 1h 15min to 1h 40min (on really bad days) for e journey between home & work. but cats believe in eating [1] neatly, with everything contained within bottles & plastic bags/containers that can be sealed, with [2] minimal odour (no pungent stuff), [3] quietly, & [4] clearing up & LEAVING NO TRACE. e cat has watched an uncle unfold a packet of fried Hokkien mee, lay it out on e seat beside him, squeeze e lime juice over it, & skilfully finish every last strand with amazing chopstick skills on e super-shaky upper deck of a superbus driven by a super-manic SBS bus driver, & had no problem with it except for e sambal chilli smell. e bus was rather empty (no one was deprived of a place to sit) & he cleared up after himself.

perhaps people who don't know how to throw things away properly should be sold food that comes without any boxes/wrappers/plastic bags - dished out straight into their bare hands - & taught how to lick their paws clean ;)

Jet Li was everywhere today. on e bus stop poster adverts, on TVmobile (endless trailers for Fearless/Huo Yanjia, interspersed with trailers for another Jet Li movie to be shown on TV on Sunday night), & along Neil Road:
