sun with moon japanese dining

[250306] e cat went to green tea heaven today, with Fangus, SF, WH, & two SYs =))

zaru soba ($7.80++): never knew sesame seeds could make such a lovely difference to e usual soba + chopped spring onions + seaweed....too bad most of them got lost in e dipping sauce. felt like adding hot water to dilute e leftover dipping sauce & drinking it as a soup =P

warabi mochi ($6.50++): green tea ice cream + azuki red beans + warm green tea warabi (bracken fern) mochi. this could be part of e cat's last meal if it ever has to make such a choice =))

also tried a bite of e tofu cheesecake that e others had. probably can polish off a quarter kilo of that =P

pricey place, where guys won't get close to feeling full given e size of e portions.

but e cat was bought over by e dessert menu (black sesame pudding, green tea parfait etc) + e sight of kyo-dango (aka. 花見だんご hanami dango) on e menu just when hanami has started to sweep across e southern half of Japan + green tea bavarian (this is a REAL Japanese place!) + decor + Japanese (& English) magazines (including a MOOK one on traditional Japanese houses & interiors) + presentation (e kamimame is served with a little hourglass for you to time how long to wait before 'uncovering' e 'claypot', & e cat's dessert was e only one that wasn't served 'imprisoned' - e tofu cheesecake comes in a little bamboo bird cage & e green tea bavarian in something that reminds e cat of a wooden crate) + view =))

think e desserts here are e closest thing (that e cat knows of) in Singapore to that of Kyoto's famous 都路里 Tsujiri....

more about Sun With Moon here, here & here.

after dinner (where all agreed that tchs-hjc guys all CNMI *LOL*), to Borders where e cat came across The Last Paradise on Earth: The Vanishing Peoples & Wilderness of Northern Burma while waiting for SF to get some book on pie & tart recipes. e cat heard of Kachin state while travelling in Chiang Rai, & that it has Lisu people, who are also found in north Thailand. e northernmost portion of today's Myanmar, bordering India, Tibet & Yunnan, wonder how long it will be before Kachin state gets touted as e next Bhutan in e travel trade?

& then a brief 'sit down' at e Borders cafe before deciding to defect to Mac's cafe @ Lido =P

good company + good catfood = HAPPY =))
