[290406] 'VOTE P-A-P....ONE FOR TWO DOLLAR ONE FOR TWO DOLLAR'...interesting mix of messages blaring from e PAP campaign lorry loudspeaker & Bedok central Blk 209 durian sellers stationed outside e Giant supermarket =P
near e NTUC Income branch office:

CityLink MPH: travel magazine article on Sip3 Song2 Pan1 Na1 (สิบสองปันนา/西双版纳/Xishuangbanna), with photos of beautiful scenery, colourful temples, monks, mountains, streetscapes, buildings, locals celebrating their version of Songkran (does it go by another name there?)....a Northern Thai version of China or a Chinese version of North Thailand & Laos, depending on which way one sees it ;)
e 傣 Dai/Tai people who migrated south many centuries ago to give rise to e ancient kingdom of Lanna in North Thailand, & e Tai Lue (now found in places like Chiang Kham in Thailand, & Laos) all came from Xishuangbanna. e Akha, Lahu, Yao/Mien & Hmong hilltribes in Burma/Thailand/Laos also trace their ancestral migrations back to this region, & there are still Hani (related to Akha), Lahu, Yao & Miao (Hmong) in this part of China today. probably explains why Sipsongpanna was e first answer most of e Akha gave, when asked where they would like to visit if they could travel (if all e political & financial barriers vaporised)....like Apa, who said he wanted to see e land of his forefathers & meet 'distant cousins'. wonder if e Hani guys in China can also recite their ancestral lineage? do they trace back to e same Smm Mi O? *need to read up*
Atee said that he, Jamu, P'Moo & other MAG people were planning to go there around April 2006....there are border crossings in Laos & Burma, & recently tour companies have started offering 'cruises' (think you travel on rice/other cargo barges transporting goods between China & e Mekong delta region?) up along e Mekong river from somewhere around Chiang Khong/Chiang Saen into Yunnan....

in a land before time sculptures on e lawn, by Sun Yu-li, e guy behind this outside Suntec & this design on EZlink cards & e 6 sculptures (Celebration, Endearment, Courtship, Development, Friendship & Relaxation) outside Paragon shopping centre, this watch design, & e artwork in Dhoby Ghaut MRT station....sculptures can be lit - from within =) | map the universe Sun Yu-li painting e universe on e glass door entrance of e Arts House | the thinker how does a triangle walk? | fire somehow brings to mind 焱 yan4, e theme for e previous KE7 wushu exhibition @ Far East Square Fire gate | the showering hearts water to balance e fire? & tuition teacher makes an appearance in e form of two rubber duckies ;) | into e Chamber for designers on a dime fashion-dance | mad cow revue using an OHP as a spotlight | council room recorded train announcements from Osaka(?) + 2 Japanese guys + 20m long cloth covered with Japanese writing + 2 sturdy tables + crushed Japanese newspapers thrown at e audience | toilet train in e Living Room with crushed pages of TODAY newspaper + toilet bowl like e one sourced for e set of e KE7 98/99 Hall Play Pistachios with Whipped Cream + tomato | lip service in e blue room with long long strip of red cloth + banana | vertigoland | jam finale in e Play Den
wonder if some of e indoor items were far too abstract for e audience? & if e lack of proper translation left e non-Chinese in e audience lost?
free seating = freedom to enjoy sitting on e floor - don't all cats do? ;)

melon Pocky:
Parkway Parade madness - aftermath of progress package credited into e bank accounts of Singaporeans + sale = human jam along basement corridors with queues for Swensens & Sakae Sushi snaking past e Delifrance towards Watsons....near impossible to walk through, or even into some of e shops. e sheer force of frenetic mass consumerism scares....
